HOW HOPELESS IT IS - ARIKO
YOSHITOSHI'S ONE HUNDRED ASPECTS OF THE MOON
This is one of the most charming designs of the series. The moon is shown only in reflection-the printer's execution of this concept is excellent. In addition to wiping away her tears with a poignant gesture, Ariko seems also to be shading them from the brilliance of the reflected moonlight (Stevenson, 2013).

ON THE COAST AT KIYOMI
YOSHITOSHI'S ONE HUNDRED ASPECTS OF THE MOON
The background landscape of the print shows mount Fuji, rising from behind a steep coastline, and the scenic Mio promontory, famous for its pine groves and views of Fuji (Stevenson, 2013).

The moon was behind them and he noticed from the showdown thrown by the moon that she had devil's horns. Before her hands could find his throat, he drew his sword and killed her (Stevenson, 2016).

YOSHITOSHI'S NEW FORMS OF THIRTY-SIX STRANGE THINGS

ROSHI ENSEI (YAN QING)
KUNIYOSHI'S HEROES OF THE SUIKODEN

There are two different editions of this print are known, and this is the first edition published by Kagaya Kichibei with a kiwame censor seal but without the artist's signature (Klompmakers, 2016).

KIRENJI TOKO (DU XING)
